Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')
CVE CVE-2023-40681
CVSS Medium (4.4)
Publicly Published October 25, 2023
Last Updated January 22, 2024
Researcher Hamoud Al Helmani
Description

The Groundhogg plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via task data in versions up to, and including, 2.7.11.10 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This only impacts multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled.
