Modal Dialog <= 3.5.14 - Reflected Cross-Site Scripting

Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')
CVE CVE-2023-31071
CVSS Medium (6.1)
Publicly Published April 21, 2023
Last Updated January 22, 2024
Researcher LEE SE HYOUNG
Description

The Modal Dialog plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the modal config id in versions up to, and including, 3.5.14 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link. Note that only sites running PHP < 8.0 are vulnerable.
